Professionally, I am: a writer, reporter, editor, producer, designer, photographer.

While I am currently pursuing my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at The New School, first I was a journalist:

I earned my Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism summa cum laude, where I also completed an honors certificate and a minor in Women and Gender Studies (with a focus in art and media).

I’ve covered everything from the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2024 election to local theater performances and spirituality. What always kept me coming back to the art of storytelling was the people.

I love putting stories together and meeting new people; and while my first love in journalism was writing, I have been lucky to also explore editing and producing, design, web design, social media analytics, data reporting, audio and podcast production, newsletter-ing and so much more.

I stepped away from journalism so I could focus on that love of human connection that has always been at the center of what I create, and to explore the ways I can apply that to storytelling.

I find it incredibly important to find joy and love in my life, and I encourage others to do the same. That’s why I proudly support and advocate for: women’s rights, mental health care, the LGBTQ+ community, BLM, accessible and affordable education, free speech, sustainability and underconsumption, and a host of other groups that stand for basic human equality.

I believe in the importance of information and creativity.

That means: That information (books, news) should be affordable and easily accessible (support your local libraries ! support your local NPR stations ! education matters ! literacy is political ! )

And that our words matter, so use them (and make them your own).

Consume media (a lot of it). Think critically. Engage in your communities, support your friends, listen, learn. Make art, adopt pets, get really into coffee or learning new languages. Watch random YouTube video essays, take photos, write letters, skip rocks, buy stickers, eat good food, do your laundry. What better else to do?
